Sunday 20 May - Day 2

A day of gentle climbing into the foothills of the Brenta Dolomites, passing the crystal clear waters of Lago di Tenno; also known as “lago azzurro” due to its bright blue colour.
We will continue through alpine meadows and forests, taking in views of the Adamello and Brenta mountain ranges, before returning to Lake Garda along an old road winding through a gorge descending to the Valle dei Laghi (valley of the lakes).
Distance: 90-100km, Climbing: 2000m.

Lago di Garda from Punta Larici

Monday 21 May - Day 3

“Giro di Monte Baldo”, this will be a longer day, riding to higher altitudes; although we will begin and end on flat roads.
We’ll ride through Val d’Adige, alongside Fiume Adige; Italy’s 2nd longest river which flows down to the Adriatic from the mountains of Süd Tirol. The valley is flanked by Monti Lessini to the east and Monte Baldo to the west, the climbing begins as we leave the valley road for the switchbacks of Monte Baldo.
Crossing the border from Trentino into Veneto the long descent towards the south of Lake Garda begins. We will tackle another shorter climb before descending to the lake shore and heading back with a tailwind to Torbole “lungo lago”.
Distance: 135km, Climbing: 3500m.

Tuesday 22 May - Day 4

Giro d'Italia Stage 16 - Trento > Rovereto
A hilly ride to the city of Trento where the riders will roll down the start ramp of the individual time-trial in Piazza del Duomo.
Trento is the provincial capital and whilst it's undoubtedly Italian there's a definite Austrian influence - apfel strudel is as ubiquitous as tiramisu! Landmarks include Castello del Buonconsiglio and the Duomo itself.
After watching the first riders start we will ride on quiet bike paths next to the time trial route, stopping in a couple of places to see the riders roll past before proceeding to the finish in Rovereto to watch the lead riders come in.
We will ride back to the lake on the "pista ciclabile" through lush vineyards and orchards.
Distance: 100km, Climbing: 1600m.

Lake Molveno

Wednesday 23 May - Day 5

Giro d'Italia Stage 17 - Riva del Garda > Iseo (Franciacorta)
Meet for coffee in Torbole before riding to Riva del Garda to see the professional teams sign on and watch the "Maglia Rosa" lead the Giro d'Italia peloton out from the start line - expect plenty of photo opportunities!
After lunch in Riva, our own ride will be short but hilly with spectacular views of the lake and an exhilarating descent to Arco.
Distance: 55km, Climbing: 1500m.

passo Santa Barbara above lake garda

Thursday 24 May - Day 6

After the excitement of the Giro the day begins gently heading south along the lake, after 30km or so we will take in one of the most popular climbs with local riders, reaching an altitude of 1000m before descending to Val d’Adige and a flattish run in to the day’s final sting in the tail and our return to the Lake.
Distance: 125km, Climbing: 2250m.

Friday 25 May - Day 7

This is the most significant day of climbing, tackling the slopes of Monte Bondone - made famous by the Giro d’Italia. Prior to that we will climb Monte Stivo, twisting and turning through the forest - which provides a bit of respite from the sun, before we’re into alpine pastures. We will drop briefly into the Adige valley, this time heading north towards the foot of Monte Bondone.
Distance: 130km, Climbing: 4000m.
